The Sunrise Doesn't Wait

At a book launch, a young woman mistakes Lena for a fan of Professor Gyver, the celebrated author who is secretly her husband. Julian has kept their marriage hidden, and when he speaks of a promised sunrise he never shared, the girl beside her throws herself into his arms and asks when he will take her to see it. The sunrise was always his promise to Lena.

He does not know she has regained her sight, and that she came only to tell him their long-awaited sunrise is finally theirs to watch. Yet under the auditorium lights he looks past her, and at the dinner upstairs he toasts his student Clara Bell, warm and admiring, while Lena sits unseen in a corner. When she finally tells him who she is, he calls the crowd too many and sends her home alone.

A cane, a signed book, and a taxi fare in her hand: Lena must decide whether to keep waiting for a man who no longer looks for her.
