The story
During a Memorial Day weekend, Lucas urges his family to drive to Yellowstone National Park. Aria warns that such a remote place is dangerous without a professional guide, but her mother slaps her and tells her to go or get lost. The family sets out anyway, and that night someone blocks their car. Aria warns her father not to open the door, but he calls her selfish and forces her to open it. Outside is a bear-man, which clamps its jaws on her arm; instead of saving her, her mother pushes her out, and her parents drive away.
Aria opens her eyes back on the day Lucas first suggested the trip. She warns them again, and her mother again tells her to get lost. This time she lashes out, sweeping the coffee table clean and storming out, determined not to join them. At school she asks Lucas for her weekly allowance while he brags about the coming trip.
Remembering how the journey ended, Aria knows what waits in the wilderness, and this time she will not be the one left behind.
