Story

The story

Natalie's dormmate Mona Joyce steals from her again and again—money, skincare, a tablet—and gives it all to her brother Matthew. Each time Mona is caught, she cries, and the other dormmates, June Farrell, Rosa Cheney and class president Shannon Kirby, urge Natalie to be the bigger person for the sake of Mona's poor family and the school's reputation. When Mona finally destroys Natalie's thesis flash drive, Natalie's graduation is deferred, and Mona's mother Karen Pratt blames her for ruining Matthew's future.

Natalie then wakes on the morning Mona first stole her money, 320 dollars saved from tutoring. This time she does not argue. She hides June's wallet and Rosa's silver earrings in her own drawer and films the room from her bed.

At half past two, Mona rises and takes the bait. In the morning June demands her wallet back, and Natalie names Mona—but Mona's tears and the others' sympathy may bury the truth once more.
