Story

The story

Arthur has always been a devoted husband, until the day his high school sweetheart Claire is diagnosed with cancer. He hands his wife Mia a pill that causes temporary amnesia and asks for three days to give Claire the wedding she has always dreamed of. He promises that after the wedding Mia can take an antidote, fall back in love with him, and remarry him.

What Arthur does not know is that Mia invented the amnesia drug herself, and there is no antidote. In three days she will forget him completely, forever. As the drug begins to erode her memories piece by piece, Arthur hides the divorce papers, calls himself her brother, and rushes to Claire's side, while Mia quietly plays along and prepares to leave for Paris.

In an emptied house stripped of every trace of their life together, Mia removes her wedding ring and hides it with a letter, waiting to see whether Arthur will ever regret what he has done.

Opening excerpt

But the day his high school sweetheart was diagnosed with cancer, he handed me a pill designed to induce amnesia.

"Mia, Claire is going to die soon. Give me three days. I just want to fulfill her dream of having a wedding."

"I don't want to break your heart. This pill causes temporary amnesia. In three days, after her wedding is over, you can take the antidote. You’ll fall right back in love with me, and we'll get remarried."
