Story

The story

Aubrey Brooks has her best shot at winning an Oscar, until scandalous photos of her flood the internet and the Academy removes her from the nominations over questionable morals. Only her boyfriend Ryan tirelessly defends her name. When her reputation is finally cleared, the award is already gone, and Ryan promises her a next time.

But a call from a gossip blog chasing its final payment makes Aubrey realize who truly knew her schedule inside and out. Confronted, Ryan refuses to let her press charges, and his real concern surfaces: Lily Sterling, a young newcomer who needs awards to prove herself, and whose mother has cancer. Ryan expects Aubrey to sacrifice her last chance at the age-restricted award for Lily, then to smile through Lily's celebration party.

As whispers about her sugar daddy scandal fill the room and Ryan walks past her toward Lily, a post Aubrey never wrote appears on her verified account, publicly supporting the new Oscar winner.

Ryan pulled me into his arms, comforting me, “It’s okay, Aubrey. Just wait.
