Story

The story

After a fatal medical scandal destroyed his life, cardiac surgeon Milo Lane wakes on the very morning of the operation that ruined him. His wife, Shannon Wright, and her childhood friend, Jonah Hill, want Jonah to practise on the wealthy patient Henrik Nichols, and Henrik himself insists they stay on the surgical team. When Milo refuses, Shannon threatens divorce.

Milo accepts the suspension that follows his deliberate penicillin order, then uses the records room to shout the doctor's code of conduct aloud while secretly asking Nurse Tanya to reconfirm Henrik's allergy history with a witness. He will not let the patient die for nothing again.

Opening excerpt

The first thing I did after being reborn was add penicillin, a drug the patient was severely allergic to, into his pre-surgery medication administration record.

The hospital leadership exploded.

“Have you lost your mind?”

“Are you trying to kill the patient?”

I smiled as I accepted the suspension notice they handed me.

In my previous life, I had been the lead cardiac surgeon for this operation.
