Story

The story

Miles Sterling's girlfriend, Joy Wren, discovers that his water bottle cost $30,000 and immediately demands he buy her father, Patrick Wren, an $8 million luxury apartment in the city center. When he politely refuses, she presents a PowerPoint of their relationship expenses and threatens to call off the wedding unless he agrees. Miles smiles and says he will buy the apartment after all.

At the showroom, Joy's relatives swarm Miles while Patrick lists expensive renovations. Then Joy's childhood friend, Lucas Julian, arrives and claims a bedroom for his music studio, and Patrick insists Miles should set aside a room for Lucas, or simply buy him the unit next door. Miles finally pushes back, and the room falls silent.

Everyone is stunned by Patrick's demand, and Miles must decide how far he will go for a family that keeps asking for more.

I politely refused. She said furiously, “Don’t be so stingy! He’ll be your father-in-law someday. What’s wrong with getting a head start on being a good son-in-law?”

She even compiled all of our expenses during our relationship into a PowerPoint presentation and demanded we split everything.

“If splitting everything equally is too much trouble for you, then just cover it all. You can afford it!
