Refused to Save My Brother

A bullet has torn through Clark's heart, and he has only hours to live. Yet his brother Elias, the only surgeon capable of saving him, calmly waters his plants. When his wife Lena, his mother and his father storm in, begging and threatening, Elias rolls up his sleeve to reveal a ruined, trembling hand covered in scars. The hand once called the Hand of God at this military hospital is useless now, he says, and he cannot operate.

His family refuses to believe him. Lena accuses him of faking the injury to let Clark die, while his mother reminds him that nine-year-old Clark once saved him from feral dogs and was adopted in return, taking the military academy spot Elias lost during a year in bed. As Clark flatlines, Lena offers to perform the surgery herself, using the mech-assisted system Elias spent seven years developing, backed by his own residents. His parents promise her a senior consultancy at the Central Command Medical Center, the very position Elias bled for.
