Alice Vance, an orphan taken in by the wealthy Vance family, has always lived in the shadow of their true daughter, Brittany, enduring quiet bullying behind a glamorous facade. When her adoptive mother Eleanor has the two girls draw slips after a holiday dinner, Alice unexpectedly draws the one marked Study Abroad, the chance to leave the country and eventually inherit the family business.
