Story
The story
Sybil Lowe has endured a year of beatings at the hands of her husband Randall Reeves. When she is six minutes late to their anniversary dinner, he throws a saucer of condiments at her face, then splashes a bowl of hot soup at her. This time, however, the soup lands on Randall himself, and he is carried to hospital with extensive burns.
His parents Mabel Bell and Lionel Reeves blame Sybil, but a video shows Randall pouring the soup on himself. Her own parents, Hale Lowe and Salena Griffith, scold her for his injuries. Then a metallic voice announces the Anti-Domestic Violence System, bound to her for life.
Whenever Randall strikes her, the pain rebounds on him. He wants a divorce, yet he cannot hurt her without hurting himself. Sybil drags him home, and the divorce he demands stays out of reach.
