The Butterfly Effect of My Divorce

Five years after their divorce, Chloe and Arthur meet by chance at a tattoo studio. He has come to touch up the name of his beloved inked on his chest; she has come to cover the scars on her wrist. A small boy calls him Daddy, and Arthur's phone shows a call from "Wife." Chloe tells the child she is a stranger.

Arthur's secretary, Chen, greets her awkwardly, and the boy confides that she looks like his mother, a famous actress. Arthur now wears a ring and a watch he would once have refused. When he asks whether she must pretend they are strangers, Chloe answers that this courtesy is all she can offer.

As the needle touches her wrist, she tells the tattoo artist she is Arthur's ex-wife, recalling the college years when she was the only one who stayed.
