Story
The story
After ten years building the company from a cramped storage room into a 20,000-square-foot business, Skylar is forced out by her boss, Leo, who blames her older-age pregnancy for falling sales. His assistant, Amber, torments her daily, and on one single day she is pushed toward early maternity leave, stripped of her manager's office and removed from the organizational chart. Then Leo runs her down with his car outside the hospital on the day she is due to give birth.
She wakes on the morning her boss first began making her life hell, her unborn baby still with her — and floating comments appear above her head, urging her to fight back. Declining the iced coffee and the maternity leave, she turns Leo's own morals against him, exposing his pregnant wife and his affair with Amber to the watching office.
When Leo and Amber try to fire Sarah, the colleague who defended her, Skylar refuses to sign. This time she will not let the tragedy repeat itself.
Opening excerpt
After ten years of grinding at the company, my boss, convinced my pregnancy was to blame for a drop in performance, tried to force me out. I filed a labor arbitration claim against him and cut off all my business partnerships. Eventually, the company went bankrupt, and the boss faced court enforcement. Desperate and cornered, he blamed everything on me. On the day I was supposed to give birth, he intentionally ran me over with his car in a fit of rage, killing me.
When I opened my eyes again, I was back to the day my boss first started making my life hell.
