Story
The story
When the Alpha's pregnant mistress arrives at her door, a wife greets her not with tears but with relief. She wheels out a withered woman in a chair and hands over a contract: from now on, the mistress must cover the old woman's food, clothing, lodging and herbal treatments, along with support for the wife and her pup. Then she walks out with her packed suitcase, ignoring the Mind Link commands of Jason, Alpha of the Crimson Pack.
Jason once swore he loathed his father for bringing another woman home and driving his birth mother away. Now he has done the same, cutting off the allowances meant for his mate and daughter while Lily wears silver and furs. The old woman is Thomas's former mistress, and she carries the late-stage Moon Eclipse Curse that no healer will touch.
The wife has planned this day for a long time, and the debts she itemized are only beginning to come due.
Opening excerpt
No one knew how long I had been waiting for this day.
Lily tilted her chin up, looking at me with the smug gaze of a victor.
"You should know very well who holds Jason's heart."
I held up a hand to cut her off.
"I know. He loves you."
The next second, I wheeled out the chair from behind me.
"So, this one's all yours."
