The Prenup

The night before their courthouse wedding, Preston slides a prenuptial agreement across the table to Maya. One clause names Chloe Sterling, the firm's corporate counsel, and an addendum confirms a real estate transfer to her — the penthouse next door to the home Maya chose for them. When Maya calls off the engagement, Preston insists it is only a liability shield and that Chloe earned the apartment as an executive retention bonus.

Maya packs his suits and orders him out, reminding him of the years she carried him through unpaid rent, a scam, and a ruptured ulcer. He answers Chloe's call and leaves. Alone, Maya finds Chloe's signature as witness and a footnote deeming her departure a breach of contract.

At dawn she calls her attorney, then walks into Preston's boardroom as a major shareholder — and sees her grandmother's gold bangle on Chloe's wrist.
