Story
The story
On his deathbed, a husband asks to be buried beside his first love, and the children he raised with his wife obey without hesitation, barring her from the cemetery and blaming her for his despair. When she collapses from a ruptured blood vessel, they simply watch her die.
She wakes in the scent of rosemary and seared ribeye, on the afternoon Genevieve returned from Paris. Her husband Jason has cooked a feast and, before their ten-year-old son and six-year-old daughter, asks for a divorce. He demands custody, sixty percent of her salary and ninety percent of their assets, threatening a contested petition and claiming she was an absent mother.
This time she does not shatter. She tells him to walk away with nothing or meet her in court, and when Genevieve offers pity, she asks whose money funds the woman's gallery. Jason answers with recordings he says can ruin her career.
