Luxury Receipt Drops: The Social Climber Snaps

At her college mailroom, Mindy Livingston runs into Ivan Judd, a struggling classmate who works there part-time. When he learns she spent 128 thousand dollars during the Black Friday sales, he is outraged, grabs her parcel and blocks the exit, demanding she return everything and calling her wasteful.

Ivan insists he is dating her mother, Charlotte Livingston, chairwoman of Livingston Group, and that her spending counts against their future marital assets. He claims they are about to register their marriage, making him her stepfather, and has her bank cards frozen. But Mindy knows the details he recites are the fake cover story she filed for her enrollment record, and that her mother is a lesbian who is abroad on business.

When Ivan calls a woman he says is Lottie, the voice sounds uncannily like her mother's — yet Mindy knows her mother always answers calls abroad in a foreign language.
