Story

The story

After five years of marriage, Cedric comes home to find a polished pair of men's shoes at the door and his wife, Morrigan Frost, tangled with his best friend, Dylan Shaw. He overhears her call him a broke, pathetic loser who would never dare divorce her — while the lottery ticket in his hand is worth 60 million dollars.

Saying nothing, Cedric resigns from his job, opens a new bank account, and hires a private detective. The report reveals Morrigan began cheating two months after the wedding, first with an old neighbor, then with Dylan for the past year. Her parents, Tommy Frost among them, keep belittling him at dinner and praising Dylan, forgetting who bought the apartment they live in.

Cedric hides his fortune and plays the obedient husband, waiting for the right moment to settle every score.

Opening excerpt

Standing at the doorway, I hear her whisper to her lover in a soft voice, "What are you afraid of? He's broke and pathetic. Do you think that he dares to divorce me?"

I tighten my grip on the lottery ticket in my hand.

I have just won 60 million dollars a moment ago.

This time, I will see who is the broke and pathetic one!

I gave in to a coworker's persuasion and bought a lottery ticket while I was on my way to deliver food to a customer.

Perhaps heaven finally decided to favor me, as I won 60 million dollars.
