The Woman I Helped Stole My Life

Corinne has spent years supporting Adele Whitaker, a poor student she sponsored for five years. Now Adele demands that Corinne divorce her husband, Jude Langston, claiming she will die if she cannot win him. Jude, a literature professor at Montclaire University, urges Corinne to step aside, and their eight-year-old daughter Cassy takes his side, accusing Corinne of selfishness.

After an exhausting hospital shift, Corinne comes home to a ruined birthday cake and a daughter begging for her father and Aunt Adele. A call to Jude reveals a muffled moan, and Adele's social media post shows a man whose collarbone scar and ring Corinne recognizes. The ring she had hoped was her birthday gift now belongs to another woman.

Feverish and alone, Corinne tends her daughter and reaches out to Jude, but he does not reply.
