When Misplaced Trust Leads to Ruin

At a project review meeting, a young intern, Jake Wilson, hijacks the projector to expose what he calls a traffic anomaly on the company's server. He accuses the operations director, Susan Chapman, of secretly running her own side jobs on company hardware. The boss, Martin Miller, seizes on the report, and Jake demands she hand over the root password to prove her innocence.

Susan knows the truth: the workstation is her own, a six-figure machine she brought in when the company had no funds, and she has paid its power and network bills herself for three years. Martin, aware of all this, wants the hardware registered under the company before a funding round. Cornered, she surrenders the hardware key and walks out.

A disciplinary notice follows, suspending her and demanding repayment. But the machine's cooling system and its true core are hers alone, and she knows the cost of taking it will be paid in blood.
