Story
The story
Three days before her wedding, Vivian Shaw discovers that her fiancé, Blake Foster, has replaced every invitation, changing the bride's name from hers to Lucia Lane. Blake explains that Lucia has late-stage brain cancer and only months to live, and that her greatest regret was never wearing a wedding dress with him. He asks Vivian to let a dying woman have peace, promising to return after the ceremony.
Vivian watches Blake move Lucia into their wedding home, give her the master bedroom, and even lend her the gown Vivian designed and had hand-stitched for her own marriage. When the gown is torn during a fitting, Blake orders Vivian to pay for alterations and accuses her of being stingy. Vivian quietly packs her things and calls a man named Warren, asking if he is ready for the wedding the day after tomorrow.
As Blake keeps choosing Lucia, Vivian stops arguing and begins to plan a wedding of her own, one where the groom's name is no longer his.

Blake stood by the door, his eyes red, his voice calm.

“She said the greatest regret of her life was never getting to wear a wedding dress with me.”
