The story

In the year she felt most insecure, Chloe rejected the confession of Arthur Vance, the most popular boy in her high school. Years later, fate brings them to the same prestigious university, where Arthur instantly becomes the celebrated campus god, famous for his looks and his phenomenal academic record.

When Arthur is photographed walking with Mia, a radiant recommended graduate student, the campus confession wall erupts. Chloe, an orphan raised by her aunt and uncle, has entered the graduate electronic design competition for its thirty thousand dollar prize, money her family desperately needs for her uncle's surgery. But Arthur, the college's universally recognized top genius, joins Mia's team, and Chloe suddenly faces the one rival she never imagined.

I nodded, my hands anxiously twisting my sleeves. "I really hate you."

"Fine."

He gave a single nod, hooked his backpack off the floor with one hand, slung it over his shoulder, and said: "Then here's to us never seeing each other again."
