Like a Child With a New Lease on Life

Kidnapped for ten years, Logan finally returns home, only to find his parents have adopted a new son, Jake Ewing. To stop him from bullying the adopted heir, his parents enroll him in a transformation reality show. There, he sleeps in a pigpen, competes with pigs for food, and recites daily how good his parents and Jake are. Any mistake brings harsh punishment and forced apologies before the camera.

When the show wraps, Logan kneels and repeats his vows, while his parents thank the director, Arthur Black. At home, Jake's cruelty resumes behind their backs, and when Jake fakes an injury, Logan is blamed and threatened with being sent back. In a mall, a measuring tape triggers a flashback to the village where he was trafficked, and he flees in terror, humiliating his parents.

Locked in his room without food, Logan tears pages from a notebook and eats them. The next morning, his mother calls him to breakfast, and he asks whether he is allowed to eat.
