Story

The story

Cynthia Moore appears to have the perfect life. Her husband Evan gave her a grand wedding, supported her career, and knelt by her side through a difficult labor. Afterwards he retreated to a monastery, praying devoutly for her and their son, Jadon, and earning a reputation as the city's most pious CEO.

Then a breeze turns the pages of the handwritten scripture Evan guards so carefully. Cynthia discovers it is not scripture at all, but a confession of love for his first love, Jade Spencer. Every tenderness he ever showed her was learned for another woman; even their son's name is a tribute to Jade. When she confronts him, Evan refuses to cut ties, and his mother, Hannah Green, reveals the family knew all along. Marrying Cynthia was only a way to expand their influence, and Jadon is leverage to keep her in line.

Left with a husband who will not choose her and in-laws who see her as a stepping stone, Cynthia must decide what her years of marriage truly meant.
