Story

The story

Jolie does not belong to this world. A System once gave her two sentences: conquer Julian Vance within three months and marry him, or die completely. She found him bankrupt and drinking himself numb in a dark rental apartment, and she stayed, cleaning up and telling him everything would be fine. On the last day she confessed the truth and begged him to marry her. He said okay.

Years later the System offered her a way home, but she had fallen in love and refused. Then Bianca returned, and Jolie saw the same small symbol tattooed on Bianca's waist that she and Julian both carry. She learned Julian and Bianca were childhood sweethearts, and that he was the fake son switched at birth. Jolie booked laser removal and asked for a divorce; Julian begged her not to sentence him for his past.

Now Bianca claims a Conquer System binds her, and Julian must finish ninety-nine couple things with her to free her. Jolie hands him his car keys without a scene, and he calls it a new tactic.

Opening excerpt

After getting back together, I started believing every word Julian Vance said.

"Bianca is bound to a 'Conquer System'. She has to complete '99 Couple Things' with me to unbind."

"Only the last 5 tasks left. Once done, I will cut ties with her."

"She is my mentor's only daughter. I can't watch her die."

I stared at the TV show, not looking up:

"Mmhmm. Life is at stake. You should do it."

Julian sighed in relief. "Jolie, you've become obedient."

Of course, I didn't dare disobey.
