After Our Ninth Breakup, I Left Him For Good

Finn has ended things with Chloe nine times, each breakup tied to Nevaeh, the adopted sister he cannot let go of. Every time, he returns on schedule and they reconcile. This time he promises they will be together again in a month, but Chloe only smiles and says nothing, because she has already decided to leave for good.

She moves into a condo her parents left her, keeps her silence, and quietly plans a flight out of the country set for the same month Finn named. When she runs into Finn and Nevaeh at a restaurant, she gives away the diamond necklace he bought her and lets her friend Joyce speak the truth she no longer bothers to hide.

With ten days left, Finn appears at her door, insisting Nevaeh is only his sister and that Chloe is strong enough to endure what Nevaeh cannot. Chloe finally sees the cycle for what it is, and this time she will not be found.
