Story

The story

Chase works as a real estate agent, and his mother asks him to sell the downtown condo her late mother, Grandma Rose, left her, so she can help his father, Richard Miller, through a rough patch in business. A buyer quickly appears: a woman who wants the condo held for her birthday surprise, paid for by her "man." When Chase checks her paperwork, the name matches his father exactly, and the woman, Vanessa Vance, boasts about his gifts, a Porsche, a bracelet, omakase dinners, and a diamond necklace.

Meanwhile, Richard tells his wife money is tight, refuses to replace her dying refrigerator, and brushes off her pain. Chase screenshots Vanessa's posts and gathers bank records showing over one hundred and twenty thousand dollars sent to her in three months, labeled wellness investments. His mother's lockbox holds receipts where she wrote that Richard's health is their top priority.

At the contract signing, Chase plans to hand his father a birthday gift of his own, one with enough weight to crush him completely.
