The story
Six months after her daughter Lily is diagnosed with kidney failure, a wife prepares to donate a kidney for the transplant. On the eve of surgery she discovers Lily is not sick at all. The kidney is meant for Tommy, the son of her husband Jack's ex-girlfriend Natalie. Jack devised the scheme, and Lily helped deceive her. The only one kept in the dark was her.
Ten years of marriage and family bonds crumble. She throws divorce papers at Jack and gives up custody of Lily. Jack insists divorce is unnecessary, arguing she will not die from losing one kidney while Tommy will die without one. Lily mocks her figure, her looks and her years as a housewife, calling it an honor to donate.
Staring at her haggard reflection, she sees the family she believed happy and complete for what it truly is.
