Story

The story

Vanguard Law was a three-person operation when Wendy helped build it into one of Chicago's most prestigious firms. Over three years she brought in more than half its revenue, landing high-net-worth clients and a ten-million-dollar contract with Apex Corporation. When she asks about her partnership equity, her boss Jackson fabricates an unexcused absence and threatens her with a non-compete clause.

Jackson refuses to honor the vacation he verbally approved, mocking the three days Wendy spent hiking Blackwood Peak with Mr. Preston, the trip that secured the Apex deal. He and his assistant tout Kyle as her replacement, then have a filthy mop bucket placed in her path, demanding she step over it while coworkers insult her. Wendy quits, kicks the bucket across the office, and walks out.

She knows the VIP clients are loyal to her, not the Vanguard brand, and she cannot wait to watch the firm burn.
