Story

The story

After eight years of clinical depression, a woman ends her life, only to wake in her childhood home on the day her mother, Linda, asks which parent she will live with. Given a second chance, she chooses her father, knowing her mother's pleas are hollow and that her grandparents will die of grief if she leaves with Linda.

She urges her father to have a hospital checkup, and a tumor is found early and benign. She also persuades him to buy two apartments in a run-down part of East City, certain the area will boom. The surgery succeeds, and her father takes on a loan to secure both homes.

Now she must keep her family safe and healthy, and prove her choices right.

Opening excerpt

After suffering from Clinical Depression for nearly eight years, I decided to end my life.

Before that, I transferred the remaining few thousand dollars in my bank account to my mom, Linda, because she repeatedly said that the grace of giving birth to me, I couldn't repay even in eight lifetimes.

Then, I went to my dad's grave, visited him one last time, and kowtowed three times heavily.
