The Girl Who Cried Pirate

Aboard a luxury yacht, Harper's family is enjoying a trip at sea. When her father Richard takes the crew and her adopted sister Cici underwater to look for sea monkeys, pirates seize the vessel. Harper has lived this nightmare before: her mother was violated, her brother Luke was killed, and she herself was later drowned by her own father as a sacrifice to the Sea Witch. Now she has been given a second chance, and this time she reports the yacht's coordinates to the Coast Guard instead of calling her father.

But rescue will take time. Harper tries to hide her mother and Luke in the utility room, yet her mother insists on phoning Richard, who refuses to believe them and accuses Harper of scheming against Cici. When the pirates break down the door, her mother forces Harper and Luke out through the window toward the island where her uncle, a base commander, is stationed.

Harper rows alone toward the island, desperate to bring help back before it is too late. When she finally reaches her uncle and begs him to save her mother and brother, he shakes her off.
