Too Late, My Alpha Mate

At Kyle Vera's Alpha succession ceremony for the Silver Vein Pack, his mate Leora stands beside him with their son Owen as family. When the five-year-old is asked to speak, he innocently asks his mother whether she slept her way in as the other she-wolf. Reporters turn their cameras on her, and Kyle confirms it before the pack. He whispers that Ilona Hale, his childhood intended, is watching with a damaged wolf spirit and scrambled memory, and that Leora must endure the lie until she recovers.

Six months earlier, Kyle brought Ilona home after a Rogue attack. Convinced Leora stole her mate, Ilona screams at her, takes the master bedroom, and draws Owen to her side. Leora gives up her son's company and her place until the ceremony, where Ilona accuses her publicly and Owen calls her a homewrecker. Kyle orders her removed and drives off with Ilona and Owen.

Leora resolves to sever the mate bond and renounce custody, but her body is failing and her medicine sits in Kyle's car.
