Story

The story

A new mother has barely been home from the hospital a month when a neighbour from Apt 1003, Sarah, appears at her door with a carton of milk and an unsettling interest in her nursing. The woman's offer curdles fast: she wants the mother's breast milk for her own three-month-old son, and she is willing to pay five dollars a session for it. When the mother refuses, the neighbour's pleading turns to pressure, then to a foot wedged in the doorway and a demand for half of every day's supply.

The door slams, but the night brings no peace. A baby's wail tears through the apartment complex at two in the morning, impossibly loud, and stops only when a neighbour shouts. It returns worse than before, and the building's group chat erupts. Then Sarah names herself as the mother of the crying child and tells everyone she went to Apt 1503 to beg for life-saving milk.

Now the whole building is awake, and the mother who refused is the one being watched.
