I Became Cinderella's Stepmother

A woman wakes to find herself reborn as the stepmother in the tale of Cinderella, inside a rickety house strewn with broken eggs and rotting scraps. Her new memories reveal a different past: she was once Cinderella's father's first love, abandoned when her family went bankrupt, left to raise twin daughters alone until the persistent Robert won her back. After the wedding he turned useless, drinking and vanishing, leaving her to earn the money and manage three children.

Her daughters Tara and Amber do the housework while young Kylie, forever in a drab gray dress, plays the mistreated innocent. When villagers storm in accusing her of abuse, she stays gentle, dismissing the claims as a misunderstanding while onlookers watch from the doorway. A royal announcement then promises a grand ball where the Prince will choose his bride, and she recalls the story's grim fate for her own daughters.

With a household of crocodile tears and a husband who never comes home, she must decide how far she will go to rewrite the ending awaiting her family.
