Story
The story
After school, a daughter climbs into the backseat with a blueberry muffin, and her father Derek explodes over a single crumb, ordering his wife Nora to pick it up and take an Uber home. His assistant Harper, sitting up front with her Chanel bag, watches it all. The Mercedes they ride in was bought with the inheritance Nora's father left her, and now she calls her brother Lucas to sell it and cancel a loan meant for Derek's materials.
Harper has been Derek's executive assistant for three years, ever since she rose from intern to his right hand. At a company dinner, Harper sits between the couple, and Derek peels shrimp for her while the table toasts her as the boss's woman. A pineapple dish lands on Nora's plate, though she is deathly allergic, and Derek demands she eat it anyway.
Nora once chased Derek for six months, married him the day after graduation, and gave him everything she had. Now she sits in the corner of his celebration, watching him choose Harper again and again.
