Story

The story

Mia has always been dragged by her mother to fancy restaurants, forced to eat foods she is severely allergic to until she is frothing at the mouth. Her mother films her suffering and demands payouts from the owners, who settle quickly to avoid scandal. Grandma's surgery and medication are the excuse, and Mia, once class president, now hides her hives and track marks, isolated by classmates who call her a liar.

After a Japanese restaurant scam, Mia dies in the hospital, only to wake on the day before her death. Her mother presents chocolate and a music box, then reveals the next target: a new all-you-can-eat seafood place with a tough owner. Mia knows this is where she died. She refuses, but her mother slaps her and demands she go.

This time, Mia will not be so foolish.

My mom always dragged me to fancy restaurants, forcing me to eat foods I was severely allergic to until I was frothing at the mouth.

Then, she’d whip out her phone, filming my convulsing, gasping, suffocating misery, and demand a hefty payout from the restaurant.

Scared of a lawsuit or bad press, the owners always caved, settling quickly.
