Disowned and Discarded

When Arthur and Victoria divorce, each claims one child: Arthur takes Brandon, Victoria takes Chloe. Their middle son, Ethan, is left unwanted in the courtroom, passed back and forth like garbage while his parents scream over who must keep him. Humiliated and rejected, Ethan asks the judge for legal emancipation and walks away from the family that never saved a place for him.

Ethan has always carried a fated luck aura: while he stayed, Arthur's business soared, Victoria's career bloomed, and Brandon and Chloe were praised as prodigies. Cast out, he warns them that their fortune leaves with him, but they only mock him. Alone, his mind sharpens, his luck turns toward himself, and the SATs approach as his one chance to escape.
