Story

The story

Claire Danes is the only college student from her village, and she returns home after five years away for her father's funeral. There she finds her twelve-year-old niece, Lizzy Danes, calmly pouring an unknown substance into a pot of oatmeal. In a past life, Claire poured out the food and embraced the girl, only for Lizzy to drag her into the river and drown her, blaming Claire for her suffering.

Now Claire has been reborn into the day of the funeral. Her brother Tomas Danes seizes her collar in fury, and her mother Kadee Danes and pregnant sister-in-law Amanda Danes watch her with hostility. Claire knows the family let her father die rather than pay for his surgery, and she no longer bows to them.

When she slips into the kitchen, Lizzy is again standing before the pot, asking whether her aunt will expose her. Claire must decide what to do with the child who once killed her.
