Story

The story

Harper was once an international supermodel, until her stepsister Tiffany and stepmother Brenda used a blood ritual and a cursed cactus to steal her beauty, her fame and her luck. Disfigured and blacklisted, Harper died in a hospital bed after Tiffany whispered the truth about the body swap and her engagement to Chad.

But Harper wakes on the night Tiffany first hands her the spiked milk. She pours it into the soil of the luck-draining cactus instead, letting the two curses feed on each other. As Tiffany slaves over diet desserts and Brenda gloats over scratch-off wins, the cactus begins to reshape Tiffany into something less than human.

Harper hides her own face behind makeup and a mask, watching her stepsister's body change while Chad's messages grow colder. In this life, she intends to take them all down with her.

Opening excerpt

She replaced me, becoming a top supermodel, while I withered away—bloated, disfigured, and blacklisted from the industry.

My stepmother didn't stop there. She placed a cursed cactus in my bedroom, an occult object designed to siphon my luck and life force. The harder I worked, the worse my life became.

I lived in a nightmare until the day I was struck by a truck on 5th Avenue.

But when I opened my eyes... I was back. Back to the night my stepsister handed me that silver tumbler for the first time.
