After Morton Finley married into her family, Teresa Mason took him house shopping. At the signing table he asked to add Sapphire Parsons, a new hire, to the deed. Teresa crossed his name off the contract instead, warning that a next time would mean divorce. She then drove to the villa she had paid for and found women's clothes drying in the courtyard. Sapphire strolled out, claiming Morton had given her the house.

Inside, Teresa found couple's pillows, matching mugs and a set of pajamas, plus her own donated castoffs on Sapphire's back. When Sapphire produced a marriage certificate of her own and struck her, Teresa learned Morton had secretly wed another woman while playing the dutiful live-in husband. Sapphire then revealed she was pregnant and that Morton's will left the company to her child.

Morton burst in, saw Teresa, and coldly denied knowing her, ordering security to throw her out for upsetting his wife and child.
