All Out of Love

Ally Martin is a CEO who believes every man who married her wanted only her money, so any expense of her husband Robby Greene's over a hundred dollars needs her approval. He gave up his career to stand quietly behind her empire, but when a car accident leaves him needing a three-thousand-dollar surgery, she refuses to pay, and his hand is left permanently disabled.

Fresh from the operating table, Robby sees her childhood friend Zack Malone flaunt a five-million-dollar watch she gave him. When Ally defends Zack and chooses to stay with him instead of fetching Robby from the hospital on New Year's Eve, Robby stops fighting. He calls his old friend Clayton Jones and asks to return to the company they once built together, then begins studying for a foreign language test, determined to leave.

That night, fireworks light up the sky for Ms. Martin's husband, and Robby stands in the one patch of shadow they miss.
