Story
The story
At fourteen, Larisse loses her parents in a car crash and wakes in a hospital to find her adoptive sister Cassandra has already told their brothers a different story: that Larisse caused the accident. Jacob and Noah believe Cassandra, and from that day Larisse is no longer their sister but a servant in the family home, blamed for a death she did not cause.
For ten years Larisse scrubs floors and signs away her inheritance while Jacob and Noah become feared mafia bosses of the Murray Syndicate and Murray Group. Cassandra keeps the lie alive, staging accidents and tears so that every punishment falls on Larisse, from the dog cage in the freezing rain to the guards who drag her back when she tries to run.
When Cassandra's latest performance ends with Larisse punished once more, Larisse can only whisper that she is innocent, and no one listens.
