A Baby Store’s Halloween Prank Exposed My Husband’s Secret

A wife is settling her son to sleep when a call from Baby Luxe tells her she has won a grand prize. The caller names her husband, Ethan Parker, as a customer who has spent over two million dollars at the boutique. Her last name is not Carter, and the family has never shopped there. Yet a stroller bearing the Baby Luxe name sits in their rented apartment, brought home by Ethan, who earns forty-five hundred a month and claimed it was a reward from his boss.

At the store, the staff confirm Ethan's spending and pull up years of purchases: diapers, formula, a crib, all far beyond the family's means, while she weaned their baby early to save money. The records list a delivery address at Riverview Estates, the city's most luxurious gated community. She resolves to see for herself whether Ethan, supposedly away on business, is there.

Outside the gates, Ethan appears beside a woman holding a child and introduces her as Ms. Hayes, then explains the canceled trip and her child's fever. The wife must decide what to believe.
