You Can't Have It Both Ways

At her son Charles's birthday dinner, a wife watches her husband Julian Speck let his "sworn sister" Laura Kimmel kiss him for a filmed challenge. When she protests, everyone at the table turns on her: Charles, her best friend Jennifer Dern and her brother Bobby Milton all side with Laura, insisting it is only a joke and that she is spoiling the mood. Julian calls Laura "basically one of the guys" and shrugs off her behaviour.

Humiliated and alone, she steps out into the hallway and sends a message to her attorney asking for a divorce agreement. Later that night she finds Laura's videos online, each one starring Julian, and reads comments naming him Laura's future husband. Julian's own reply flirts back openly.

Scrolling further, she uncovers old clips that line up with nights he claimed to be working late and with the school day she gave up for Jennifer, and she realises the people closest to her have been hiding it all along. When Julian comes to bed and apologises as if nothing has happened, she sees the same old pattern beginning again.
