Story

The story

Daisy has split every household expense down the middle with her husband, Miles Thornton, for years. When her mother dies in a car crash and she faces 300,000 dollars in legal and funeral costs, she asks him for a loan. He refuses, calling it her family matter, then steps out to take a call. An open file on his screen reveals a rescue fund for Susan Griffith, the intern he mentors, and a transfer of half a million dollars to her account.

Daisy asks for a divorce. Miles accuses her of eavesdropping and tantrums, offers discounted attorneys, and has his assistant escort her out. He skips her mother's funeral to queue for coffee with Susan, then blocks her from mortgaging the house her mother left her until she repays his share. Susan's posts show the two of them together on a business trip over the couple's fifth anniversary.

Daisy signs the divorce agreement and presses ahead with her mother's case, while the office buzzes with talk of Miles and Susan sharing a room.
