She Called Me a Whore at the Family Reunion,Then I Exposed Her Secret

At the New Year family gathering at Uncle Gerald's house, Monica Mason arrives in the Mercedes she bought with her year-end bonus. Her cousin Philippa Matthews greets her with a saccharine smile and a public accusation: that Monica earned her money as a bar hostess. The room's chatter dies; every relative turns to stare, and curiosity curdles into contempt.

Monica laughs it off, then answers that she makes a million a year. The gasp that follows only confirms their worst assumptions. Her parents' faces turn ashen, and their distrust cuts deeper than Philippa's lies. Aunt Dorothy Caldwell tries to shield her, insisting Monica works at a major firm in the city, but Philippa presses on, citing the car, a Louis Vuitton bag and a condo down payment as proof.

Monica warns Philippa to explain herself or she will call the police. Philippa claims she has evidence and is not afraid. When she reaches for her phone, her father Gerald catches her wrist, urging restraint while barely hiding his eagerness to watch Monica squirm. Monica waits, calm, to see what proof her cousin really has.
