Story

The story

Lily's mother is dying of terminal cancer, and her last wish is to see Lily in a wedding dress. Lily begs her boyfriend Isaac and her best friend Jolene to help her stage a wedding for her mother's sake, and at last they agree.

On the wedding day, her mother holds on with the last of her strength. But the groom never arrives, and neither does the bridesmaid. Then Jolene posts a photo: she and Isaac, still in their wedding attire, grinning over a cake across town. When Lily calls, Isaac is unconcerned, and Jolene laughs beside him. Lily watches the line on her mother's monitor go flat.

Afterward, Isaac and Jolene return, cheerful and unaware, and Jolene posts more photos of the two of them together. Lily ends the charade and walks away for good.
