The Script Ends Here

Araminta Montgomery wakes one morning to a flood of memories: she is a reborn soul living inside a "Billionaire CEO" novel, and she has been married to the tycoon Preston Sterling for two years. In the book's plot, she is the villainess—the childhood sweetheart and wife who is fated to lose her husband to Sunny Vance, a warm-hearted secretary, and to meet a miserable end once she begins lashing out.

She knows the script by heart: her jealousy will drive Preston away, her schemes will push him toward Sunny, and her own ruin is already written. Yet she has spent twenty-two years loving him, and the breakfast she makes each morning now goes untouched—he is saving his appetite for the food Sunny brings to the office.

When she learns her period is late, she remembers another plot point: in the original story, Araminta was pregnant without knowing it, and a confrontation at Preston's office cost her the child. The doctor confirms she is pregnant and asks whether she intends to keep it. Standing at the hospital exit, she has no answer.
