Nine-Year Marriage Cost Me Everything

On the night of their ninth anniversary, Dante Vittori brings his pregnant secretary, Nina, into the family compound and orders his wife, Lucia Bellini, to move to the guest room and cook for the girl. Lucia says nothing. She picks up the suitcase she has already packed and walks toward the front door while the household laughs, bets ten million that she will crawl back within three days, and Dante tells them to let her throw her tantrum.

He stops her only to demand her heirloom bracelet, the last thing her parents left her, for Nina's nightmares. When the bracelet slips from Nina's wrist and shatters, cutting her leg, Dante drags Lucia to her knees on the shards and makes her bow and apologize three times. He reminds her that the old man is no longer here to protect her.

While the family doctor tends to Nina, Lucia slips out through the iron gate, where a silver-white sedan is already waiting. This time, she is really leaving.
