The Heiress Always Wins

Wren is the heiress to an ultra-wealthy family. On a whim, she confesses to Alex, a poor boy, and he timidly accepts. His childhood sweetheart Whitney warns him it is only a rich girl's game, but Alex works desperately to fit into Wren's world, and she is touched by his sincerity.

Then Whitney's scholarship is canceled. Alex confronts Wren with sarcasm, certain she is behind it, though he has no proof. Whitney clings to him, sobbing, and Alex's silence becomes an admission. Wren refuses to explain and walks away.

Six years later, Alex is a rising tech tycoon. Seeing Wren in a basic business outfit, he assumes she has fallen into poverty and targets her at every turn, unaware she is only inspecting a branch office of her family's company.
