He Risked His Life for His Heiress Ex

Gianna has broken up with Ethan six times, and every time it was because of Mara. To fund the bankrupt heiress's extravagant lifestyle, Ethan sneaks off to illegal underground fights, trading his life for money, then kneels before Gianna with red eyes and swears it was the last time. Seeing him bruised, she softens.

On the day they were to meet each other's parents and set their wedding date, Ethan never arrives. A call from his friend Marcus reveals he is in the emergency room again, fighting for Mara, who wanted a limited edition bag. Gianna tells Marcus they are completely done. Her mother sighs that breaking up is for the best, better than a life of constant anxiety.

Back at their rented apartment, Gianna packs, then calls Professor Wilson about a classified post at the Iceland polar observation station, where she cannot return home for at least three years. Outside, Mara pulls up in a new car and mocks her, revealing what Ethan said while drunk. Gianna wishes them a long and happy life together, but Mara grabs her suitcase and video-calls Ethan.
